Patrick Kerr, PhD

Patrick Kerr, PhD, is the Chief Psychologist and Director of the Behavioral Science & Psychopathology Research Division at West Virginia University School of Medicine. With over a decade of experience as a clinical psychologist and behavioral scientist, he brings a wealth of expertise in research design, clinical interventions, program leadership, and professional training within academic medical settings. His work also extends into digital health and telepsychiatry, where he has published research on expanding mental health services to remote communities, especially during critical periods such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Active in professional organizations, Dr. Kerr contributes to national and regional efforts through affiliations with the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and the Psychological Science community. His leadership roles, including serving as a representative-at-large and co-chair of the Membership Committee within the West Virginia Psychological Association, demonstrate his dedication to advancing psychological practice and research.

Dr. Kerr’s expertise in trauma, mental health services in underserved populations, and digital health innovation will significantly enhance Empower and Link’s mission. His proven ability to bridge research with practical implementation will support the development of accessible, evidence-based mental health interventions. His experience working on issues like human trafficking aligns with the organization’s goal of providing targeted support to vulnerable populations, thereby strengthening Empower and Link's capacity to foster healing, resilience, and social justice.
